Every year is the same...we begin the New Year with lots of new resolutions such as going on a diet, starting running, finding a new job, finding a boyfriend/girlfriend...We are always planning ahead, thinking in the future...and we sometimes forget about living in the present.
Currently, I believe that people are more anxious about the future and holidays are just an example of this reality. Most of the time, we go on holiday to a nice place and, even while we are there, we start talking about the next place we would like to visit. If you start to pay attention to your own thoughts you might realise that this also happens to you.
The first time I realised this was last year. I spent over a year planning my holidays in the USA with my friends and during that time, I had something to look forward to. With the holidays over, my life changed completely, going back to "normal" and all my plans seemed to have gone.
Now I am living in another country, working full-time and with no planned holidays for the next few months. As a result, it is important to enjoy the present and not to think too much about the future. Of course, I know that there are responsibilities that require planning ahead but at the moment, my only plan for the future will be to avoid planning absolutely everything. My plans will be to live in the present.
