When we decide to buy a gift for someone, we often have doubts over whether it will be a suitable present. Sometimes they are most definitely not and the majority of people have at least one embarrassing story to tell. However, with a little care and thought, the risk of choosing the wrong gift may be mitigated.
Points to be considered: gender, age and career. First of all, let's consider children's gifts. The most conventional presents are toys. However, even though the most popular presents are dolls for girls and balls for boys, nowadays, games can be a nice choice. They are designed for both boys and girls, so could be a good present for either. Moreover, another important tip is given clothes not to spend a lot of time thinking about something special gifts to give.
Birthday present for adolescents are equally difficult to choose. For girls, good options are: make-up, clothes, necklaces, earring and bracelets. These items are inexpensive and useful. They also come in a wide array of designs, colours and styles. Another good tip to give a girl a voucher for a high-street shop.
Remember that teenagers love technology. An adolescent would also appreciate a favourite film on DVD or Blu-Ray. Video games, MP3s, mobile phones and computers can also be good options.
For 21st birthday gift ideas, however, it is much simpler to find a present. For girls, go for a bouquet of flowers or nice jewellery. Boys will prefer watches, wallets, trainers and electronics games among other things.
There are so many creative birthday gift options, and it is always fun to find the unique one that fits in your budget and suits the birthday boy or girl. Of course, the best bet is to find out what the person likes before setting out on the high street.
Here are some ideas:

Clothing Labels: Are we slaves to fashion?
Talking about clothes gets women excited, checking websites and companies prices, seeing what treats lie in store for next season's collection...
In my opinion, English people by and large seem to be very fashionable. They wear clothes they feel comfortable in and create their own style. Personally, I really enjoy how people dress for themselves reflecting their mood and personality.
In my country (Brazil) people are fashionable too, but there are differences between these two countries: Brazilian's seem to care more about impressing others and tend to copy America's style, reflecting the influence of films and TV. In the UK people tend to wear a wider range of style and clothes, combining bargains from high street (shops such as Topshop, H&M, Accessorize, etc.) with designer clothes (Barbour, Vivienne Westwood, Berburry etc.).
Another issue is the price. Most Britons seem to be able to afford to designer clothes (or at least put them on their credit card?!). That's what makes the difference! Brazilians would need to have more money to buy designer clothing labels. Most of these clothes come from abroad so people need to pay high prices. Thus in Brazil people have their onw famous designers and must-have items.
High street stores are not fashionable in Brazil so Brazilians don't tend to buy from them. Largely they fail to follow seasons and offer poor quality materials. In England, on the other hand, high street shops are far more sophisticated. You can find almost anything you are looking for at a areasonable price. Examples of these shops are Zara and Mango. They are well-considered high street in Europe, but not in Brazil. Compared to the UK, these two shops are pricey in my country or, at least, not as affordable as they are in the UK.
Another important factor is the weather. In spring and summer, you don't think too much about dressing up (at least in Brazil). You main concern is to be comfortable and to show off your trim boby shape. On the other hand, in autumm and winter, there seems to be a wider range of clothes and people tend to dress more fashionable as well.
All in all, fashion differences between Brazil and UK are noticeable. Both countries have their own style according to culture, weather, etc. and these differences are fascinating. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to live and see these differences for myself.

Carpe Diem: Seize the day
Every year is the same...we begin the New Year with lots of new resolutions such as going on a diet, starting running, finding a new job, finding a boyfriend/girlfriend...We are always planning ahead, thinking in the future...and we sometimes forget about living in the present.
Currently, I believe that people are more anxious about the future and holidays are just an example of this reality. Most of the time, we go on holiday to a nice place and, even while we are there, we start talking about the next place we would like to visit. If you start to pay attention to your own thoughts you might realise that this also happens to you.
The first time I realised this was last year. I spent over a year planning my holidays in the USA with my friends and during that time, I had something to look forward to. With the holidays over, my life changed completely, going back to "normal" and all my plans seemed to have gone.
Now I am living in another country, working full-time and with no planned holidays for the next few months. As a result, it is important to enjoy the present and not to think too much about the future. Of course, I know that there are responsibilities that require planning ahead but at the moment, my only plan for the future will be to avoid planning absolutely everything. My plans will be to live in the present.

Dating for everyone
It is really hard to keep a nice relantionship working well these days. Sometimes people stat dating someone and in a couple of days it's over. I started asking myself why people are so crazy when they are talking about it.
Nowadays it can seem really hard to find a person who wants to have a serious relationship. Many people prefer to have just one date and the next day see someone else (this means less hassle, especially if you don't want the complications that being in a relationship usually involves: giving him a call, sending her flowers...). You just spend one night together and is it.
In my opinion, it can be wonderful to have a girlfriend or a boyfriend. When you are in a relationship, it's great doing things together: going to the cinema, to a nice restaurant, the theatre and on holiday. I believe that you feel more confident and have more reasons to enjoy your life when you are in love. It is so sad to feel lonely.
Maybe this kind of attitude changes after 30. People start thing of having a family, getting married and having babies. Having a family makes it difficult to continue dating someone different all the time.
From my experience, I know that it's possible to be happy with someone special. It's really good to go home and stay with the person you love. Having a special dinner, buying a small gift, and giving him/her a surprise can keep your relantionship fresh.
Why don't you try it? Enjoy the experience and give yourself a chance to love.
